Our intention is to hold a conference every two years to bring our members and potential members together. Participants share leadership skills and concepts, values and principles through having completed leadership programs using Building Rural Leaders-type content and principles. Our work at conference is to grow and support each other in our developing and fostering of leadership in regional Queensland.
Our last gathering was held over a weekend in October 2014. This workshop drew on the latest leadership research, to revisit what leadership is, how it applies to us and how we can be more effective day-to-day in whatever leadership roles we find ourselves.
Using the Leadership Circumplex we identified and explored 8 styles of leadership interpersonal behavior that impact on our own and others leadership strengths and weaknesses.
The Leadership Circumplex was used as the basis for exploring a challenge many of us face: Having done BRL we have a good idea of what to expect in terms of leadership - how do we be better leaders ourselves, especially when people in positions of leadership aren’t measuring up to our expectations?

workshop presenters
Quentin Jones was part of the original team who designed the Building Rural Leaders Foundation and Advanced Programs. Over the two day conference program Quentin will present his insights from twenty years of leadership development in corporations and government. In particular, Quentin will use highly interactive processes to guide participants through understanding Leary's Interpersonal Circumplex to explore the effective and ineffective behaviours of leaders.
Quentin was joined by past BRL presenter Pamela McAllister to present a vibrant program to reflect, refresh, challenge and support participants to continue their leadership development journey.
An informal social program enabled everyone to be ready and fresh for an early and focused start on Saturday morning.
The houses we shared together allowed us to relax together and enjoy the wonderful nature of the Bunya Mountains and its wildlife diversity.
We thank our great team of volunteers who made this possible.
