North & Far north Queensland
Community Leadership Programs
Applications now open
In response to our members from North Queensland, Vision21 has instigated two three-day leadership programs to be held in winter 2019:
Leading in the Dry Tropics Region: 17-19 July 2019, held in Bowen, North Queensland.
Leading in the Wet Tropics Region: 14-16 August 2019, held in Innisfail, Far North Queensland.
Funding has been secured from the Gaming Community Benefit Fund to ensure this program is available to people regardless of financial circumstances. We are seeking applications from a diverse range of social, economic, industry and issue-based sectors and welcome all applications.

Vision21 would also like to hear from anyone interested in partnering to build the capacity of these, and other, regional communities, to work together to achieve what matters most to its citizens.

Our community leadership model
The 2019 winter leadership programs in North and Far North Queensland build on successes achieved in creating annual community leadership programs in the Inland Burnett and the Central West.
Vision21 partnered with Red Earth Community Foundation and local businesses to establish the 8-day South Burnett Community Leadership Program (SBCLP), now in its sixth year, with 107 graduates.
Vision21 partnered with a range of community organisations in the Central West in 2016 to establish its annual Leading in the Central West community leadership program, now in its fourth year with over 70 graduats.
This proven model shows that communities can drive long-term leadership development. Vision21 looks forward to collaborating with other organisations, businesses and communities to grow a culture of leadership in regions.
We are proud to be able to build on what we have learned in these community-led initiatives to grow leadership in North and Far North Queensland through two new leadership programs, Leading the Dry Tropics and Leading the Wet Tropics, to be held in Bowen and South Johnston, in July and August 2019, respectively.
