In 2014, Vision21 partnered with Red Earth Community Foundation and many businesses and community organisations in the South Burnett to establish the South Burnett Community Leadership Program.
Our shared vision was to create an annual leadership program, supported and owned by locals, that continually grew the skills and relationships for everyday people in the region to work together to achieve extraordinary things. We understand that this is a long-term commitment and that this community ownership is what will make it sustainable. This year, in 2018, we are very excited to have completed the fifth annual program and eight full-day Alumni workshops, as well as many self-organised alumni activities to continue leadership development and continue growing the region's capacity to thrive. This year we reached 105 graduates of the 6-day 2-module program and are proud to announce a new partnership with the North Burnett Region. Future South Burnett programs will include a number of North Burnett participants to dissolve boundaries and expand the 'community' of leaders and positive action in the Burnett region more broadly. See some great VIDEOS from the program and read more about Red Earth at this website. |
Sowing seedsHolding the leadership program at the Bunyal Mountains (Boobarran Ngummin) has particular significance for us. In acknowledging the Traditional Custodians of this place, the Gummingurru, and paying respect to Elders past, present and emerging, we hope to learn from, and continue, a tradition of bringing people together, to forge the relationships that build peace and prosperity across the region.
The fruit of the Bunya Pine has been the reason people have come together for millenia. Today, we remember that from each tiny seed a great tree can grow, as long as it has favourable conditions to flourish. The South Burnett Community Leadership Program aims to establish those conditions, and as each participant flourishes, we envision a mighty forest growing, where each of us supports and protects the other's, and the region's, growth. |

Alumni developmentA full-day alumni workshop is held every six-months to inspire, support and continue the leadership development journey. This February, New Zealand Executive Coach, David Bennett, offered his knowledge and skill to help us understand coaching for dealing with complex situations.
